FAA Flight Physicals

Medical certification is required by the FAA for any individual who wishes to exercise the privileges of the following certificates: airline transport pilot, commercial pilot, private pilot, recreational pilot, flight instructor (when acting as pilot in command), flight engineer, or student pilot solo flight. Contact us to schedule your FAA flight physical.

Your Aviation Medical Examiner

An FAA-designated Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) must examine you in order to obtain a medical certificate. If you meet the appropriate medical standards, the AME will issue you a medical certificate.

Dr. Lakin, CFI,CFII, MEI, Airline Transport Pilot, is one of only two Senior Aviation Medical Examiners licensed in Dakota County and the only active pilot and flight instructor. He is available to conduct 1st, 2nd & 3rd Class flight physicals.

Submit Your FAA Flight Physical Application

All Airmen should visit www.faa.gov/pilots for more information and complete FAA form 8500-8 via MedXPress. Note: As of Oct 2012, FAA is no longer accepting paper applications.

Prior to your appointment, you will be contacted by our staff to assist you in preparing for your examination. Additional questions? Please visit the FAA’s flight physical / medical certification FAQs.
